Microbial toxins
“The dose makes the poison”
…. and for certain microbial toxins, the dose is quite low
A few bacteria and moulds can produce toxins that make food and feed unsafe for consumption. As toxin production is hard to predict, testing is key to eliminating risk.
The presence of toxins is subject to strict regulations, which food and feed producers must follow before putting products on the market.
At ISI Food Protection, we use modern identification techniques to test for the following toxins:
- Staphylococcus aureus: enterotoxins A, B, C, D, and E according to ISO 6888-1
- Bacillus cereus: enterotoxins (diarrheal type) according to ISO 7932
- Clostridium perfringens: enterotoxins (CPE) according NMKL 95
- Clostridium botulinum: neurotoxins A, B, E and F according to ISO 17919:2014
Mycotoxin testing is available on request.
